Different Types of Vehicles

Used Car Inspection Checklist
Different Types of Vehicles

Do you know how many types of vehicles there are in all? Since the creation of the first crude automobile, several models and types have been created to suit the needs of people. These were developed in order to provide a safe, efficient and economical means of transportation. Some are built for luxury, others for practicality and some for environmental purposes.

Cruder Forms

Vehicles were first made thousands of years ago. The earliest forms of vehicles were actually living things like horses, elephants and camels. With the invention of the wheel around 3000 B.C., chariots, carts and horse-drawn carriages came into existence. The wheel has certainly paved the way for modern transportation as it is still very much present today.

Find The Best Windscreen Wiper Blades For Enthusiastic 4×4 Owners

If you haven’t got a Off-Road Vehicle to use as a Chelsea Tractor, the chances are that you’ve got some hard duties lined up for it, and that means that you’ll need at least better than average ancillary and safety equipment.

Think about tyres for example, you don’t want normal UK road tyres if you’re going across the Sahara Desert, Mud plugging in tropical rainforests or exploring Arctic Glaciers. Even if you’re just using your Off-Road Vehicle to pull a horsebox to a local county show, you’ll need some decent mud-plugging tyres if you’re not going to suffer the ignominy of needing to be pulled out by a tractor.

It’s interesting how nearly everybody can and does accept that fact, however they don’t think in the same terms about an equally critical safety element of their car, the Wiper Blades

Normal Wiper Blades are made with either a natural or synthetic rubber blade. The working temperature of these rubbers is tested to its limit even in weather which we regularly see in many parts of Europe. For example, rubber stiffens as temperatures tumble below freezing, and in Scandinavian and Alpine winters the rubber hardens so much that it cracks; making the wiperblade useless.

Additionally a rubber wiperblade’s life is severely shortened by the effects of Ozone and Ultra Violet Light. These degrade the rubber’s structure and surface, causing a further loss in performance, and lessening the wiperblade’s ability to shake off water. This then exacerbates its low temperature performance problems, because it allows water to stay on or even penetrate the wiperblade’s surface, so when it freezes, the rubber blade’s structure is further damaged and the wiperblade is often frozen to the windscreen.

At the opposite end of the temperature range; think about how hot the surface of your car can get in even a British summer, then imagine how much hotter it will get in tropical or even Mediterranean climates. Even in Britain, most of us have experienced Wiper Blades softening and then sticking to the windscreen in hot weather. Imagine what will happen in even moderately hot climates.

Finally, think about the tough driving conditions you’ve bought your Off-Road Vehicle for. Throwing up mud, stones, dirt, grit, sand and other abrasive debris. All these abrasive things will of course shorten the life of any wiperblade that’s having to wipe them off.

Even the very best rubber Wiper Blades, even when protected from all the hazards of the weather still only have a design life of approximately 500,000 cycles, and of course this is seriously reduced both by those weather influences and by being subjected to the abrasive particles that are part of Off-Road Vehicle life.

The good news is that Silicone Wiper Blades offer solutions to all these problems. With a working temperature range of -60°C to +200°C, these truly are the Best Windscreen Wipers for extreme conditions. In fact, they’ll still be operating long after you and your Four by Four have given up the struggle. Additionally, they aren’t degraded by Ozone or Ultra Violet light, and because they have far better wear resistance, they have a life expectancyconditions, and are much better at withstanding the abrasive effects of Off-Road Vehicle adventure conditions.

So if you’re searching for proper High Performance Wiper Blades to equal the performance of your Off-Road Vehicle, don’t just look for a quite meaningless “Performance” Label. To get the Best Windscreen Wipers for all the extremes you can put your vehicle through, make sure they have 100% Silicone blades, and beware of those crafty beggars who sneakily put a silicone coating on rubber Windscreen Wiper Blades!

Interesting Facts About Cars and TV

How to Keep Your Car Organized and Simplify Your Life on the Go

American drivers spend on average about 15 hours in their car each and every week. Cars are quickly becoming our home on wheels, so it should be as no surprise that our cars can easily become infested with clutter. And just as we have a system in place at home, so should we in our car. An organized car keeps distractions at bay and essential items within easy reach.

Visor CD holders and passenger seat organizers are great items. Each of these organizing tools keeps important items (TV items including) within easy reach, such as your water bottle, toll money, or map.

If a good portion of your time in the car involves hauling your children back and forth to daycare, on shopping excursions or to weekly activities, it’s likely that your backseat is a toy box on wheels. There are simple and affordable mesh nets that can be placed over the back of the front seats so that books, toys, and allowable snacks can be kept within easy reach. Encourage your children to place their items in these organizers when they are getting out of the car, and you’ll encourage them to learn how to pick up after themselves in your home as well. The better your car is exploited, the better conditions on even the low cost auto insurance online you can get.

Trunk organizers are a great storage tool for keeping those needed items from floating back and forth in the trunk during car rides, and provide a safe haven for your groceries to travel home in. Cargo nets can also be installed.

Lastly, keep your pooch safe and secure in the back by placing a dog divider in the back of your minivan or SUV. This keeps them safely contained in one area during the commute, thereby decreasing the likelihood of him bounding onto your lap and getting in your way during the drive. It also contains him in an enclosed area if he’s dirty from playing in the mud or water.

And for Today’s People You Must Get real with Reality TV

TV is far from educational but you have to admit that they are damned well good fun to watch. I can not speak for others. However this type of entertainment can be very fulfilling in providing pleasure to viewers who get withdrawal symptoms should they not get their weekly fix of reality TV.

Then we have the vast majority who find it all so false and irritating. Who do you please? A catch 22 situation,

Why the big issue over the showing of these series is beyond me. No one twists your arm up your back to view the antics of the Big Brother house; no one holds your head steadfast while you squirm at the creepy crawlies swallowed by the inhabitants of the Australian jungle.

There is no imposed law out there stating that you the viewer have to watch this garbage as some would see it. Millions of people tune into their favourite channels and are content to watch what they enjoy, and if reality TV is one of those channels, then so be it. Freedom of choice, so many laws out there dictating how we run our lives with out some critic sticking the oar in to scrap reality television all because it is not educational.

If people want educating then surely they will tune into the discovery channel, where they get to see the gruesome remains of bodies unearthed for DNA testing. For updates as to what is going on around the world we have the CNN news showing the bombings in Iraq followed by flashes of pictures of bony skeletal starving kids in Africa.

Crime watch another awareness programme on how to catch a thief or nail a mugger while they load up a mug shot on our screens of the bloodied battered face of the 80 year old woman mugged for her pension. Sorry I have done enough crying for the day watching all that suffering. If reality TV can generate a strong presence of pleasure and put a smile on the faces of millions who enjoy this type of entertainment, then leave it be.

To much crying in the world today and if reality TV takes on the role of being clown for the evening to put a smile on your face then make sure to tune in every week.

Remember you will always get the critic or the anti reality TV person ready to wipe the smile of your face. Well for those people against, face up to reality and deal with it, as it is here to stay.

Benefits Of Recycling Equipment Services

Recycling is a waste handling procedure which needs to be implemented whether it is residential or industrial firm. The raising pollution and the amount of waste really need to be recycled for keeping environment clean. Balers, compactors, conveyors, shredders and many more facilitate recycling equipment process.

One of the main reasons behind insisting on having the recycling procedure is to reduce the amount of waste and increase storage capacity. Most of the manufacturing industrial firms make use of such recycling facilities for transforming their useless products or rubbish into raw materials which can be reused again the next manufacturing task.

In today’s context, we are aware of the abundance use of plastics. They do not get decayed or vanished in the soil and give way to earth pollution. If recycled properly, plastics are formed into new substances. Each and every person can contribute to controlling the pollution by getting dustbins installed at every home.

You may find a range of products or materials like milk bottles, metals, glass, etc can also be recycled. Among the other recycling equipment, balers and compactors are widely used. These tools help in conservation by getting the waste or rubbish condensed and compacted. Balers help in making bales of round or square bales which are easy to shift from one place to other. The choice of a particular waste handling equipment depends on the type of waste which is to be recycled.

There are some harmful products like CFCs and other non-recyclable materials which demands careful use. Recycling is a community effort and every body is invited to join this campaign of “save environment”. Therefore, recycling equipment like balers, compactors, shredders and other materials handling equipments are essential to get used. Recycling is beneficial not only in industrial areas but also it is a way to create and maintain clean environment which is good for entire world!

Winter Survival Hints & Tips For Drivers

As a young Sales Engineer, I worked the North of England, North Wales & Scotland.

After listening to motorists’ tales from my Dad’s pals I got together my own Winter Survival Kit, which I kept in the back of my car each time I went out of town in winter.

My Kit was made up of a cardboard box with some Newspapers in the bottom, a roll of sellotape, a few large bars of chocolate, a large bottle of mineral water, a sleeping bag, a torch and a half bottle of rum. Additionally I put in a spade, and each time I was travelling out of town, I’d add a flask of hot chocolate, which I would drink up at the end of the day when I didn’t need it, and finally, I always put in a warm overcoat or ski-jacket. I made a point of not letting the petrol to drop below half a tank for two reasons: first, because the extra weight over the back wheels would assist with drive in slippy conditions, and secondly, so that I would always have enough petrol to keep warm in case I got stuck in bad conditions.

In those days, I didn’t know about winter tyres, winter Windscreen Wiper Blades and the like, but I did make sure that my tyres and Car Wiper Blades, fan belt, engine hoses etc were in top fettle.

Of course, this gave my mates lots of chances to rib me mercilessly. but then one day, I and hundreds of other drivers were trapped in blizzard conditions on the M62 for about 10 hours.

This was a miserable situation for everyone else, but for me it was almost like one of Michael Palin’s Ripping Yarns.

The day kicked off completely normally and I set out at around Seven am to drive from Lancashire across into South Yorkshire. I stopped at Birch Services, just before the climb up into the Pennine Hills, and topped up the petrol, because it was down to half a tank. The Motorway Police said the road was fine in spite of the wind and snow, as long as every-one kept moving.

20 minutes later, everything came to a grinding halt when an articulated tanker was blown over and jack-knifed blocking most of the carriageway. Within minutes the snow built up around the vehicles, and the traffic jam was a few miles long.

Therefore they closed the Motorway in both directions, and used the other carriage way to begin taking people back down to the Services. Of course a single able-bodied guy in his twenties was always going to be one of the last to be rescued, and so I sat there from around Eight in the morning to around Eight in the evening.

I took my spade to dig the snow away from the car & create a wind-break. This reduced the wind-chill and allowed me to safely run the engine once or twice an hour to keep warm. There was no danger of running out of petrol for days. When it went dark I put down the passenger seat & rolled out my sleeping bag. I was just starting to tape thick layers of newspaper onto the inside of the windows when a traffic cop came & told me they’d be taking me out within a couple of hours. He was delighted to get a steaming cup of hot chocolate laced with rum!

I was safe warm & unfazed by the situation because I was properly prepared for it. I would have been OK if I’d had to survive all night out there.

The moral of this story is - have a survival box for winter driving. I still have one, and no-one laughs at me any more. I’ve refined it a little, because I now have an electric car kettle instead of a thermos flask, and Silicone Wiper Blades for extreme conditions. Silicone Wiper Blades aren’t just winter Windscreen Wipers, good ones are High Performance Windscreen Wipers for all conditions. In fact I leave them fitted all year because they have all year performance advantages. Also, from October to March I have winter tyres for improved grip.

Save Money On Gas With Electric Sports Car

For years there have been rumors about “who killed the electric car?” as people search for conspiracies. Some have blamed General Motors for slowing down the progress of getting electric cars into the marketplace because they pulled their EV1 off the market. But recently, GM has made some significant progress in reintroducing electric sports car.

This news came much to the glee of those in the environmental movement. Those who are eager and anxious for as many viable options as possible to be introduced into the market in order to lessen the number of fossil fuel burning vehicles on the roads.

So, longtime critics of GM who had accused them of snuffing the electric car, were actually pleased at the beginning of 2007 when GM announced their latest entry into the new electric car market. A new model is expected to hit the showroom floors in the next 12 to 24 months.

all electric car
The electric car that was recently announced by GM is called the Chevy Volt. They promise that this concept car will not languish on the drawing board but instead, it will actually be going into production and will be available for purchase in the coming months.

The General Motors chief engineer, Tony Posawatz, has claimed that with the introduction of the Chevy Volt, GM is effectively leapfrogging over the current electric car technology. This current technology, which has been most favored by the environmentalist crowd, is the hybrid electric car that plugs in to charge.

The newly announced Volt is a new advancement in electric cars, according to GM. It can be plugged into a wall-outlet to recharge overnight, just like its cousin the electric motor that are currently on the market. However, the real distinction for the Volt is that it’s battery array can be recharged while the electric car is in use, rolling down the road.

small electric car
This can be achieved because it features an on-board generator that allows energy to essentially be recycled back into the bank of batteries. This advance in technology gives the Chevy Volt an estimated range of 600 miles on the overnight charge, which is a significant improvement over the other hybrid electric cars that are now available.

The on-board generating system in the Volt does rely on utilizing a small gasoline engine for operation, but GM has plans for future models to have small diesel engines or hydrogen fuel cells to power the generator and facilitate the drive-time recharging of the batteries.

hybrid electric cars
The battery pack in the Chevy Volt is also what differentiates this electric car from others that rely on a diesel drive train for the electric generator. It effectively negates the advantages of the electric car because in other such vehicles the diesel generator must run constantly. This is not the case with the Volt because of the innovative battery pack that powers the generator.

Industry experts are optimistic that General Motors has brought about the rebirth of the electric car with their new Chevy Volt. Some pundits are going so far as to predict that the current versions of hybrid electric cars that must be plugged in, in order to operate, will soon become a thing of the past.

Thoughts On Building An Electric Car

It will certainly be interesting to see where electric cars go in the next few years. With the energy crisis and gas prices the way they are, it certainly wouldn’t be surprising if they become commonplace and entirely affordable within the next decade.

There are actually several people interested in the concept of a DIY Electric Car. Of course, it would seem that there is no way you could build your very own electric car, and you would obviously need some serious skills and a team of people to build one from scratch. However, it is possible to convert your current gasoline-fueled car into an electric car. Electric cars obviously have the advantage of using no gas, so you can save quite a bit of money with one.

Converting your car into an electric vehicle will take time and money, and whether you want to make this kind of investment is really up to you. A good guide is really essential if you want to do the conversion properly. You’ll need to know where to get the right parts, as well as what to do with them. The better guides will list retailers that stock the required parts. It’s best if you can find a manual that explains everything step-by-step. Otherwise, you may get confused or do something wrong.

Features and Factors to Consider When You’re Out Car Shopping

Car shopping has always been a somewhat overwhelming task, but these days it can be even more so than it was before. That is because gas prices and the high cost of new vehicles have really upped the ante and also made consumers question what should be important to them when they shop. For instance, the best gas saving vehicles are ones to consider, because they can save you hundreds or dollars or more per year. You should also consider the warranty, as well as reliability and safety ratings of any particular vehicle. Lastly, price is always a factor, so consider that as well.

Do Electric Cars Work? You Be The Judge

Perhaps the most exciting electric car out right now is the Tesla Roadster, which can travel 350km on a single charge of its lithium-ion battery pack. It is also extremely fast - it does 0-60mph in just 3.9 seconds, which is faster than the average lamborghini or ferrari. There is no doubt that this would be an amazing car to drive. Of course, it’s pretty pricey (the cost is something like $100,000) but it is proof that electric cars really are amazing machines.

If you want, you can always just build an electric car yourself. This will of course take a certain amount of time and money. If you are really resourceful, you’ll be able to do the whole thing for under a thousand bucks. It could be an interesting project if you like working with cars.

Interestingly, the electric car was one of the first automobiles around. Way back in 1828 - almost two centuries ago - the first electric car model was made. Since then, the technology for electric cars has obviously advanced, and it’s unfortunate that there are virtually no electric cars actually on the road today. Very few electric cars were even produced by major car companies, even though heavy researched proved that it was a viable concept.
